Order flowersA Rockhampton-district florist delivers to Gracemere Monday to Saturday. Same-day delivery for orders placed by 2pm on a weekday or 10am on Saturday, Queensland time.
Gracemere is the fast-growing town 9 km west of Rockhampton on the Capricorn Highway, home to 12,023 people at the 2021 census and to many families who commute into the city each day. The Archer brothers took up Gracemere Station here in 1855 and named it after Thomas Archer's wife Grace and the Scottish word mere, for lake; the heritage-listed Gracemere Homestead still stands at 234 Gracemere Road, and the lagoon it was named for lies just north of town. Cattle remain the business of the district: the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange on Saleyards Road is described as the largest cattle-selling facility in the southern hemisphere. A florist from the Rockhampton district makes up your bouquet and delivers it by hand.
The established streets around Gracemere State School and the council office on Ranger Street, the estates built across the town over the past decade, the industrial park by the Big G, and the surrounding localities of Kabra, Nine Mile, Fairy Bower, Bouldercombe and Port Curtis are all covered. New estates are not always on the driver's map yet, so give the recipient's mobile number and, for an acreage block, the property name and whether to leave the flowers at the house if nobody is home. Rockhampton itself, including The Range, North Rockhampton and the CBD, is delivered from the same district.
Place the order before 2pm on a weekday or before 10am on Saturday, Gracemere time, and the bouquet is delivered that day, Monday to Saturday. Sunday is the one day without deliveries. Queensland does not observe daylight saving, so from October to April a sender in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra or Hobart has until 3pm by their own clock; in winter the clocks match. From Adelaide the deadline is 2.30pm in summer and 1.30pm in winter, from Perth noon all year and from Darwin 1.30pm. Miss the cut-off and the flowers go out the next working day, or on a date you choose.
Gracemere has no hospital of its own; patients go to Rockhampton Hospital at 2 Canning Street, The Range, the 300-bed public hospital with an emergency department, intensive care and cancer services for Central Queensland. Ring the ward before ordering, because intensive care and some wards take no fresh flowers, and give the patient's full name and the ward so the delivery goes straight up. If discharge is a day or two away, the home address in Gracemere is the safer choice.
Gracemere Cemetery, at the corner of Fisher and Bland Streets, opened as a monumental cemetery around 1922 and has a lawn section and an ashes wall; council asks that tributes on graves be fresh or artificial flowers in non-breakable containers placed on the beam. Cremations and chapel services are held at Rockhampton Memorial Gardens, 21 Hartington Street, North Rockhampton, set in 44 acres of gardens with a non-denominational chapel. Funeral tributes are ordered two or three days ahead through the funeral director or a florist near the chapel; delivery to the service itself is never guaranteed, so give the family's home as a second address.
Beef Australia, the cattle industry's week-long national exhibition, returns to Rockhampton from 2 to 8 May 2027 and ends the day before Mother's Day on Sunday 9 May, so every florist in the district will be busy that week; order Mother's Day flowers early for delivery on Saturday 8 May (10am cut-off). The Rockhampton Show runs for three days each June. Valentine's Day on 14 February falls in the wet season, so a morning delivery to a workplace is wise; Anzac Day on 25 April calls for rosemary and wreaths rather than bouquets; Father's Day is 5 September 2027.
Gracemere lies just north of the Tropic of Capricorn in Rockhampton's humid subtropical climate: an average high of 28.3 degrees, a low of 16.6, and about 795 mm of rain, most of it in summer. From December to March choose orchids, anthuriums, gerberas, alstroemeria or tropical foliage, which handle heat better than peonies or tulips. The dry winter, June to August, is kind to everything: roses, stock, carnations, daffodils and the natives, proteas and leucadendron, that come into season then. Autumn is dahlia and chrysanthemum time, and spring brings peonies and snapdragons for a few weeks.
Bouquets start at AUD 75. The delivery fee is added at checkout, and a card message is included.
