Order flowersA Bellarine florist delivers Monday to Saturday to Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Point Lonsdale and Wallington. Same-day delivery for orders placed by 2pm on a weekday or 10am on Saturday, Victorian time.
Ocean Grove is the biggest town on the Bellarine Peninsula, 98 km south-west of Melbourne and 23 km from Geelong, with a surf beach on one side and the Barwon River on the other. It began in 1887 as a Methodist camp settlement modelled on Ocean Grove, New Jersey, when Charles James and James Grigg cut the land into 2,500 blocks with a covenant banning the sale of alcohol. The covenant is long gone; the holiday habit is not. About 12,000 people live here year-round and the 2021 census counted 17,714, but in the summer school holidays the population swells to roughly four times that. A local florist knows which streets are holiday rentals and which are home, which is more useful than it sounds.
The run covers Ocean Grove from the old town to Collendina and the Kingston estates, Wallington and Marcus Hill inland, Barwon Heads across the 1927 bridge, and Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff at the tip of the peninsula. Leopold and Drysdale are reachable but may be a Geelong run. Because so many addresses are holiday houses, always give the recipient's mobile number; a bouquet left on the porch of an empty rental is a waste of flowers. For a retirement village, add the unit number and the village office phone, and for anyone at a campsite or caravan park over summer, the site number and the park office.
Order by 2pm on a weekday or 10am on a Saturday, Victorian time, and a florist delivers the same day, Monday to Saturday. There is no Sunday delivery, so flowers for a Sunday on the beach are best delivered Saturday. Victoria changes its clocks: from Brisbane the Ocean Grove cut-off is 1pm your time in summer and 2pm in winter; from Perth 11am in summer and noon in winter; from Adelaide 1.30pm all year. Later orders are delivered the next working day or on the date you select.
Ocean Grove has no hospital of its own. Patients from the Bellarine go to University Hospital Geelong, main entrance on Bellerine Street and emergency on Ryrie Street, Geelong 3220, or to St John of God Geelong Hospital at 80 Myers Street, Geelong 3220, where general-ward visiting is 10am to 8pm and maternity 3pm to 8pm. Both are delivered from Geelong rather than from the peninsula, so order from the hospital's own page with us. Ring the ward before ordering: intensive care and some wards take no fresh flowers, and give the patient's full name and the ward.
The Geelong Cemeteries Trust runs the peninsula's cemeteries: Queenscliff Cemetery on Point Lonsdale Road, Queenscliff 3225, Drysdale Cemetery on Oakden Road, Drysdale 3222, and Leopold Cemetery on Kensington Road, Leopold 3224. Cremations are at Geelong Memorial Park on Burvilles Road, Armstrong Creek 3217, on the Geelong side of the Barwon. Service flowers are ordered two or three days ahead through the funeral director or a Bellarine florist; delivery to the service itself is never guaranteed, so give the family's home as a second address.
The Queenscliff Music Festival on 27 to 29 November 2026 books out the peninsula's accommodation and keeps florists busy with event work, so order a day early that weekend. Christmas and January are the peak: streets are full, parking is scarce and drivers run late, which is a reason to order in the morning rather than at 1.55pm. Valentine's Day on 14 February is still high summer here. Mother's Day, Sunday 9 May 2027, is delivered on Saturday 8 May because there are no Sunday runs, and the Saturday cut-off of 10am applies. Anzac Day on 25 April means rosemary and wreaths at the Ocean Grove and Barwon Heads services, not bouquets, and Father's Day is Sunday 5 September 2027.
The Bellarine is mild and breezy, and flowers that stand up to a sea wind do best: proteas, leucadendrons and banksias in autumn and winter, roses from late spring through to the end of summer, and gerberas, carnations and orchids through the hot weeks. Dahlias flower in Victoria from February to May and fill the Mother's Day buckets, peonies have a short season in November, and winter brings tulips, ranunculus and daffodils. The peninsula's own growers supply the fruit and wine; the flowers come in fresh from the Victorian markets, and a seasonal bouquet is the way to get the best of them.
Bouquets start at AUD 75, the delivery fee is added at checkout and the card is included.
