Flower delivery in Canberra, from Gungahlin to Tuggeranong

Canberra is the one Australian city that was planned around flowers. Parliament House, embassies and the ANU

Some Canberra addresses need a little more from you. Deliveries to Parliament House go through the loading dock, where everything is screened, so flowers for a minister's office or a staffer should carry the office name, the wing and a phone number, and should be ordered in the morning. Embassies and high commissions, mostly in Yarralumla, O'Malley and West Deakin, with a few in Forrest and Red Hill, have gatehouses: give the mission's name, the person's title and a mobile number, and expect the flowers to be left at the gate. At the Australian National University in Acton, name the building or college and a phone number, because the campus is 145 hectares of parkland and the driver cannot wander it. The same goes for the University of Canberra in Bruce: name the building and give a number.

Flowers to Canberra Hospital, North Canberra Hospital and Calvary Bruce

The city's largest hospital is Canberra Hospital on Yamba Drive in Garran, next to Woden Town Centre. North Canberra Hospital, the former Calvary Public, is at 5 Mary Potter Circuit in Bruce, and Calvary Bruce Private Hospital is across the road at 30 Mary Potter Circuit. Ring the ward before you order: intensive care and some wards take no fresh flowers, oncology often asks for no pollen, and maternity prefers a small arrangement that sits on a locker. Give the patient's full name and the ward on the order. If the person is close to being discharged, send to the home instead and the flowers will be there to meet them.

Floriade, Anzac Day and the rest of the Canberra year

Floriade runs from 12 September to 11 October 2026, its 40th year, with more than a million blooms in Commonwealth Park and NightFest from 1 to 4 October. Canberra florists are busiest in those four weeks, so for a Floriade-weekend birthday order a few days ahead. Mother's Day is Sunday 9 May 2027: with no Sunday delivery, flowers go out on Saturday 8 May and the cut-off is 10am that morning. Father's Day is Sunday 5 September 2027, delivered on the Saturday. Valentine's Day, 14 February, is high summer in Canberra, often close to 30 degrees, so send roses to an office or a home where someone will get them into water. Anzac Day, 25 April, is the capital's largest commemoration, with the dawn service and the National Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial; the tradition is a sprig of rosemary and laid wreaths, not a bouquet.

Frost, autumn colour and what is in season at 580 metres

Canberra has an oceanic climate with four real seasons: summer highs around 29 degrees, winter nights that average close to zero, frost most mornings from June to August and the occasional minus ten. That gives florists a longer season for cool-climate flowers than anywhere on the coast. Canberra's public cemeteries are run by Canberra Memorial Parks. Woden Cemetery, opened in 1936, is on Justinian Street in Phillip beside the Woden Town Centre; Gungahlin Cemetery and its public crematorium are at 80 Sandford Street in Mitchell, and the privately run Norwood Park Crematorium is directly opposite at 65 Sandford Street. Funeral tributes (sheaf, wreath, casket spray) should be ordered two to three days before the service and addressed to the chapel with the family name and service time. Delivery to the service itself is never guaranteed, so give the family's home as a second address. A simple bouquet to the house in the weeks after the funeral is often the one that is remembered.
